LaGrange and Our Surroundings
Our Southern charm and hospitality will entice you to relax and enjoy a slower pace
for a while. Though booming with industries, the gardens, golf, and historic homes
will show you a different side of LaGrange.
Historic Homes and Landmarks LaGrange’s own Hills and Dales Estate,
founded by the Callaway Family, is just one of the many beautiful estates that dot
the landscape in historic LaGrange. Bellevue is another beautiful antebellum home
that is available for touring. Just a short drive away is Newnan, GA- nicknamed
"The City of Homes". There are walking tours of many turn-of-the-century homes thre
as well.
Gardens and Golf Close by is the famous Callaway Gardens where
golf is unsurpassed and the grounds are breathtaking. Ferrell Gardens, located in
the Hills and Dales Estate, was established in the mid- 1800’s and has been nutured
with the same care with which Mrs. Ferrell begin it.
Arts, Education, and Culture LaGrange has a large group of local
and independent artists and is home to a well-established and growing city museum,
which recently showed works by Picasso. It is also the home of the Explorations
in Antiquities Center, which holds many artifacts belonging to Israel from the B.C.
era and dating back to the birth of Christ. LaGrange College, a private college,
is home to many educational events.
Parks and Recreation West Point Lake is the sight of many springtime
fishing tournaments as well as being a perfect place for family reunion and get-togethers
for business outings. There are parks located throughout LaGrange and the Mike Daniels
Rec Center is home to Special Olympic events, a large indoor pool, and many softball
and baseball events. There are several equestrian centers close by as well. Columbus,
GA, home to the Olympic Softball Tournaments, has hosted many soccer and cheerleading
events as well.
Shopping Many boutiques can offer unique gifts and souveniers for
every collector. With Georgia being the home of Coca-Cola and southern cooking greats,
you can find cookbooks, handpainted potteries, and even Coca-Cola and Gone With
the Wind memorabilia.
